Test yourself before someone else does!

Sometimes we think that we have the victory over something or in a certain area of our lives and then something happens that we realize that we still need the grace and mercy of God and that we still have some challenges in that particular area. Sometimes, we need to take an inventory of our lives to figure out where our challenges are, what areas we have difficulties in and tackle those areas before we are ever placed in situations that reveal them. If you have an issue with alcoholism for example, you may have been avoiding the bars, company parties or innocent events just so that you show people that you are saved and have the victory over this issue. Yet, this is avoidance. Test yourself by going to that company party where alcohol is everywhere and see if you have the victory. Try walking right next to that bar and see who wins. Of course, accountability with someone is vital to ensure that you are being protected in all that you do. This, in my opinion will determine if you really have the victory. Paul said it best:

2 Corinthians 13:5:(Message) 5 Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it.
